It's Time for Us to Stand Up for Education Equality

Dear potential donors, club members, family, and friends:

We at FEARless (Female Education Advocacy Representatives) aim to raise awareness and support for the inadequate state of the education of women in the Middle East in order to empower them to lead productive lives as leaders. Our inspiration is drawn from a woman named Malala Yousafzai, who as a fifteen year old stood up for what she knew to be a grievous injustice occurring around her: the restriction of female education by the Taliban. Under Taliban rule, women are subject to extreme restrictions on their daily lives. Malala nearly paid the ultimate price for her valiant and fiery defiance: she narrowly survived a point blank shot by a gunman on her school bus which pierced her head, neck, and shoulder. News of her steadfast defiance and attempted murder rippled across the globe, springing up protests inside Pakistan, her home country, and worldwide condemnation of the Taliban and their actions against education. Her dramatic example exposed the world to the terrible truth that millions of children are denied education across the world today. Our question to you is this: if a fifteen year old girl can stand up for what’s right in a country where she almost died for it, why can’t we do the same in the land of the free, a place where we are guaranteed free speech?

One of our biggest steps in the goal of providing aid to those in need in the Middle East is becoming a “501c3” organization. In short, this means that any donation made to FEARless VT will be recognized by the federal government as tax exempt. As of the 30th of September, the form has been postmarked and sent to the I.R.S. Your donations from now until we receive an answer from the government will be tax exempt only if the tax exempt status is granted. Again, all donations will retroactively become tax exempt only if the status is granted. We cannot guarantee tax exempt status until we receive a response from the federal government.
