Fundraising Accomplishments at Spring Semester Halfway Point

Dear FEARless friends and family:

As the spring semester reaches its halfway mark, the officer board at FEARless would like to inform all of you who are interested in our financial standing about our successful fundraising ventures so far in 2015! At the time of writing, FEARless has hosted three fundraisers in the spring semester, the first of which took place on January 31st. Braving the frigid weather, the FEARless officers sold hot chocolate and cookies to the Saturday night population of downtown Blacksburg, many of whom thought us completely crazy. Our second fundraiser, the night of February 6th, saw the FEARless crew and a few friends once again offering their now world-famous crock pot hot chocolate recipe to the downtown crowd (in weather that wasn’t as frostbite inducing this time). The latest fundraiser took advantage of the popularity of St. Patrick’s Day with college students, and set up downtown on the day itself to sell hot chocolate and donuts that were graciously donated by Carol Lee’s Donuts. All three fundraisers resulted in a profit for FEARless, which encourages us to continue to brave whatever elements are thrown at the FEARless crew to keep bringing in funds to support education equality worldwide!

The FEARless board is also proud to announce that we have been featured in the February/March edition of the Social Scene Magazine! The Social Scene highlights organizations or events of interest in the New River Valley. The article is entitled “Creating Change, One Volunteer at a Time,” and FEARless is proud to have been given such recognition. We hope that this is only the beginning of our quest to raise awareness for the inequality of education across the world, which is just as integral to the goal of changing the state of education as is raising money for scholarships!
